I agree with the report, that all ofsted inspectors that are teachers should back away as it does not encourage a truly independent outcome for schools. I'm amazed at the high proportion of inspectors that are currently active in the profession. I would like my children's school to be inspected by unbiased inspectors. Are there any qualified to do so? We all know that Amanda S. was never a teacher, and she's in charge.
She says at the end of the report, in response, that parents trust ofsted... I don't!

So, you don’t think that teachers are qualified to objectively assess other teachers because they are teachers?

No offence Op but that sounds bonkers. Who would you think would be a better type of person?

Are you the type of person who angrily comments on daily mail articles about discipline in schools?

I would prefer inspectors to be teachers, or have very recent teaching experience. You get a few arseholes, as you do in any profession, but by and large teachers are supportive of each other. It's not nice receiving negative feedback from anybody but I think I would respect it more from a peer.

People who have been Headteachers for donkey's years however... Hmm

You want schools to be inspected by "unbiased" people? You want people who know nothing of what it's like to be a teacher to go in and observe teachers and make judgements on classroom management, planning and delivering lessons, pupil progress, assessments, interventions, SEN, behaviour management etc. etc.?

Okay...

Can’t see what all inspection teams couldn’t include a non teacher

Sometimes takes people from outside to see what’s needed / could be improved

Eg inspections into failing hospital trusts aren’t always run by drs.

Can’t see why not what

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 12/02/2020 15:58

Surely an inspection team should be comprised of a number of different people, both involved in education and so called lay people like CQC is.

WhiskersPete · 12/02/2020 16:07

Yes, why not have people who know nothing about teaching making judgements on teaching! Sounds logical.
