Hi I was hoping someone could help me. We may be moving to Scotland in October and I’m confused by the school years. My eldest is in Year 8 at the mo and is 12 (13 this April) but will be year 9 October time and her birthday is in April. My youngest is in Year 4 and is 8 and will be 9 in April. She will be Year 5 in October. What years will they be going into? With what I can find online my eldest will be in S2 and my youngest either in P4 or P5? I’m thinking P5? I’m hoping you can shed some light on this? Thank you so much.

13yo would be S2.

9yo would be Primary P5.

No, I can't imagine why they would? Although now I'm doubting myself 🤦🤣

School intake for Primary 1 is children born between March and February so they will be amongst the oldest in their years.

Thank you. I’m getting well confused looking at it all. I doubt my eldest would be in S1. 😕

Yes S2 and P5.

They'll be close to the oldest in the year as intake is March to February.

Thank you, this is very helpful. At the mo they are both middle age children in their years.
