Absence due to anxiety

Dd has anxiety and getting her into school has become challenging to say the least. Her attendance is very poor.
She is in the early stages of CAHMS referral but waiting lists are long.
Just wondering how schools should handle this please.
Thank you

Is this primary or secondary?

If her attendance is poor then the Education Welfare Officer should be involved (if below 90%). What support package is in place? What is the welfare support like in the school? Is she getting any support within school, eg therapy or working with learning mentor? If she really can’t get to school, the the local authority have a duty to provide alternative education.

You need to go to the school and make sure they’re doing everything they can. Be respectful and appreciative but don’t stop until your daughter has the support she needs.

There is some support available which has helped but she seems to have slipped through the net with the EWO and suddenly we have been faced with unauthorised absense without any notice.
