Hi

Could anyone give me a rough idea of when you normally need to register for private nurseries and pre preps? I’ve tried email one of the schools that I’m interested in but haven’t heard back. I’ve read some old threads that say at birth! (But that’s was pre recession) Any advice appreciates? Thanks

Depends on where you live.

Some London pre preps do require registration pretty much at birth.

Others require you to register in time for an assessment day and then choose from the best performers on the day.

Some private schools have empty places they are keen to fill at any time.

Depends on the school where we live. Some of the schools are name down at birth for the private nursery before the pre-prep and others are register for 3+ or 4+ assessments at the relevant time. Demand for places is super-high at four of the local academically selective private schools. The other four there’s probably a good chance you’ll get in at 4+ but not a given so you have to apply for two or three schools. Competition is tougher at 7+.
