Spoke to a teacher today from my sons' school.

She'd had an idea for the classroom, so roped her dad in to help her prepare the display.

The work was then to be laminated, only half-way through (lots of A3 sheets) one of them crumpled completely inside the laminator.

Teach and dad fiddled and ended up taking the laminator apart to get the sheet out.

Dad then disappeared huffing and puffing. Teach and her mum didn't dare interrupt him for a while, but eventually Teach went to see what dad was doing - only to find him ironing the laminated sheet flat!

End result wasn't too bad by all accounts, lol.

A man with imagination who would of thought. Good on him.

I do think partners or immediate families of teachers are often unsung heroes.

My dp is one of my greatest supports in my teaching career- he helped paint classrooms when OFSTED were looming, he does my displays, odd jobs around school, tidies my room, moves furniture, is my IT support, designed an electronic markbook .... I could keep going.

Very much so.

The Headteacher couldn't function as well as he does without all the work his wife does for him behind the scenes.

He often gets his strapping teenage sons involved too.
