We want to send our girl to Cranbrook. Any insiders can give some comments about the school? As a selective grammar school, the ranking seems not that good.

I hear they have been badly impacted by cuts of late leading to reductions in subjects offered and teacher numbers.

It's historically had cracks. 10/15 years ago a lot of colleagues of mine had children there and used to try and claim it was just like an independent school but without the price tag. While ironically paying huge amounts to live close by.

By year 11, they all had tutors; by year 13 they were begging independent school friends to redo their children's Personal Statements and paying out for help and coaching. Historically the school coasted along to gcse through heavy academic selection and fell apart later on.

And since then, it's just got worse and worse due to budget cuts.

Hello - just wondering if your view of the school is still the same? Thanks in advance for any intel.

Interested to see what the response to this is now. We're currently within catchment but want to move and not sure if it's worth staying within the catchment (DD is currently yr 4).
