My 10yr old son brought an exemplar education leaflet home from school , I really thought it would help him because he struggled , so I signed up . Two months after I signed up his school tells me he suffers with significant dyslexia , he’s not going to be doing his SATS, because it’s going to be to stressful for him . I’m now locked into a 4 yr contract with them , they won’t listen when I try to explain . Can anyone please give me advice on what to do next .

Why do you no longer want the contract? Because it's not working for him, or because he's not going to be sitting the SATs?

If the latter, you need to realise that he will be studying the same stuff at KS3 and for GCSE as those who have taken the SATs papers. What's covered may be just as useful to him as to anyone else.

If it's not working for him because the scheme takes no account of his dyslexia, that's what you need to take up with them. They say the programmes are tailored to the child, but it might be worth asking them whether any of their materials are specifically targetted towards those with dyslexia.

You might also talk more to the school about him not doing SATs. They're only supposed to skip the tests if they are working below the level of the tests, or at the level but unable to access them. Access arrangements can be made, such as extra time and/or rest breaks.

If they've decided he has significant dyslexia, what are they doing about that? (Sadly, the answer may be "nothing, because it won't be formally diagnosed by the time he leaves here", but you need to push to make sure that by the time he reaches GCSE, he is getting the support and exam arrangements he needs.)
