Pennthorpe VS Farlington

My DD is starting reception next year but we cannot decide between Pennthorpe and Farlington.
She attends the nursery at Farlington and originally we thought she'd transition there but after visiting Pennthorpe we prefer it over Farlington. However, Farlington is a bit more expensive.

Your experiences and advice is very much appreciated.

I only have second-hand evidence. A friend has a child at each school.

Their DD goes to Farlington and they chose it because of the nurturing aspect, as she'd had a rough time at her local state primary previously.

Their DS goes to Pennthorpe and they describe it as a 'results factory'.

Both children are happy and doing well.

Thank you for your message. I think Farlington would be the safe choice for my DD however I'd like to challenge her and get her out of her comfort zone. Then I think she'd only be 4. Decisions decisions.

Correction on my post above. I meant Pennthorpe is more expensive than Farlington.

My children go to Pennthorpe and it's been brilliant for them. Really nurturing (especially in the lower years) and they have just blossomed there. I don't think it's a results factory at all. They're really happy and doing well. Feel free to message me if you want to know more.

Hello irisblue, considering Pennthorpe for both my kids next year. Elder one currently in state school and younger one starting reception. Will you be happy to elaborate on both academic and pastoral care aspects please? I understand kids progress is well monitored, learning is differentiated and kids at all levels are well supported?

Hi Lightbulb88, so sorry! I've only just seen your message, so it's probably a bit late. I'll message you, but in brief, yes, learning starts to be differentiated in year one, although they're not put into sets until year 2. Pastoral has been great. My children came from state to the school and have blossomed in confidence since being there.
