Hi first time poster here. We have an assessment for DS coming up in November for 3+ entry at Colfe's in south east london. I am trying to get some insight into what exactly "structured play" involves so that I can try and expose him to some of what he'll be assessed against. He goes to nursery and does surprise us on a daily basis with the things he learns but just trying to make sure he doesn't have an off-day! Thanks

Hi Rupakr,
I wonder if you could please share your experience during the assessment at Colfe’s? Our DD has an assessment in November for 3+ and same as you I would like to make sure she is prepared for the day.
Did your DS get the place? If yes, are you happy with the school?
Many thanks!

TBH any nursery that wants an assessment to allow children to go would definately not get my vote, especially when ofsted is actually very much focused on planning in the moment so less structured play. Structured play is more about games with rules, play with a focus/ main purpose. But at the moment current thinking is about play for plays sake, child led play and the adult spies opportuntieis with in the play to implement/share/observe ideas and stages of development. It,s planning in the moment.
