Hi there, my daughter is in P6 in a state school in East Renfrewshire. Plan is to move her to an Independent school for S1. She’s sporty, imaginative and driven but not particularly academic. She’s more of a hands on learner and my worry is she’ll be frustrated if put in a an environment where grades are the focus. I appreciate that that’s is largely what private schools are about but wondered if other Mums had personal experience form your own children at Glasgow’s Independent schools that could help me make a decision. Thinking about Hutchie, High School, The Academy and Kelvinside, Thanks

Wondering if you got any further forward this and any words of wisdom to share....? May I ask why you are not happy with the East Ren provision? We are currently thinking about next steps, move to East Ren, stay put, go private. Wish we had bought a house in East Ren many years ago!

Snappyteabread , I’m in the same boat. I’m in the southside right beside Hutcheys and Craigholme. Craigholme shut down due to covid so now looking at Hutcheys, Glasgow Academy and Belmont. Gone back and forth so many times with moving to east ren. Staying put for now.

I have two children. I want them to go to independent school for 2023/24. They are 10 and 6 now.

I went to St Al, KA, TGA, and HSOG open days, but could not make up my mind about which one is the right one for my children.

Can you please share your experience and/or knowledge about these schools?

We live on the eastside of Glasgow and did come across any family who have/had their children at private schools.

Please help with as much info as possible. Thank you.
