Has anyone else got a child they’re really worried about starting university because their child has had to push themselves through anxiety to get there?

DS started last September. His anxiety was better than it had been previously, but still fairly bad.
I did worry, but he strongly wanted to go, and he didn't want to take a year out. He had a reading week half way through the first term. We went to pick him up and I was quite shocked. He had lost over a stone, had no appetite and looked terrible. After a week at home he perked up a bit, but he still felt very unwell through November and his mood dropped significantly.

After Christmas things improved a lot and he had a much better second term. He has been well since, and is feeling positive about going back for second year.

We insisted he register with a GP as soon as he got there. When he started to feel unwell he was able to get an appointment the same day. They have been good about seeing him regularly and following up.

Bronzegate, thank you for that, glad he was feeling better for the second term, it must be a huge change at first.
