Nasty clip-on ties. Wtf?

This is the prescribed year 7 uniform. Any tips on how a child can put one on themselves? It’s just got a bent bit of metal to hook over the top. (Or in the button hole?). I can hook it but Dd can’t for the life of her. Oh how I wish for a proper fucking tie.

Tip: practice in front of a mirror wearing school shirt.

I prefer clip on ties. They always look smart.

They are simple. Way better than normal ties when the kids strangle each other with them- yep it was year 7s. So glad ds is now year10 and the kids left that stupid behaviour behind a while away.

Trust me you will be great full for it, when someone pulls her tie. So she will need to put it back on herself!

Over the top of the shirt not the button hole.

Yes, do up the top button and clip the tie over the top of the shirt so it hangs between the points of the collar.

So much better than endless moans about strangulation and pulling ties and untidy knots.

No arguments about how big the knot is or how long the tie is. Clip on ties are fantastic! My yr 8 had them last year for the first time with no problems. The metal bit on his tie flips up and then clips over the shirt (not through the buttonhole), easy as anything.

Thank you all. I seriously didn’t realise the clip flipped open! So we were just fumbling around trying to jam it over. Bodes well for the Crystal Maze of secondary! Thank you!

But glad you’re sorted!
