Just thought i would add that

and i had lots of lovely teachers at school. Mr dreeves was my maths teacher for one year at GCSE level and I had my mocks and I got an E. They put me in his class and he was such a great teacher. i actually got a B in the end all thanks to him.

See there are goods teachers, shut up yauw lot moaning

DS1s reception teacher last year was wonderful. I'm reserving judgement on his Y1 teacher, mainly becaus I'm rather distressed at the fact that she appears to be a 12 yo.

is she 12 soupy? how do you know? has she no breasts?

I don't think she's young enough to be my daughter (not quite anyway!) but it is her 1st teaching year. Sigh.

I've been more than happy with all the teachers DSs have had so far, and I've told them that too!

Our Nursery teacher is such a gem, that when we found out she was resigning,(mainly due to school politics and a misunderstanding) the nusery parents immediately went up to the Head to insist more was done to sort the problem out. After seeing the depth of feeling involved there was more discussion and negotiation and she stayed!!

A school is a community made of parents, teachers and children - we all have to work together to get the best out of it.

I'm older than all 3 of my kids teachers this year - sure they're getting younger.

DS1s Year 1 teacher last year was 22! DH has a crush on DS1 Year 2 teacher - thinks he might have to invent some worries with DS so he can go in for a "chat"

The new Head at ds's primary school is 32 .

I was really happy with all my dd's teachers. When I took them out of school it was on very good terms. I applaude the dedication and passion of good teachers, just dont agree with the whole educational establishment - it needs a serious rethink. I think it must be very hard for teachers to express their individuality these days, with so much testing, bureaucracy and red-tape. So a round of applause for those teachers doing the best they can with the conditions they find themselves in!!

please reserve judgement on how good she is because you havent seen the results of her teaching and not because 'she appears to be a 12 year old'

MY ds3 has a wonderful SN teacher. Yesterday she spent her own time finding info and activites for my ds4 who is 2 and has language problems.

I have usually had good teachers for my children. We are quite a social bunch and usually take them out for a meal once a year.

When I first started teaching I was a very very young looking 22 year old. I often was mistaken as a sixth former by parents visiting (and staff at times!) BUT it didn't affect my teaching one bit. I was always this bad Seriously though, young teachers and NQTs can be a real breath of fresh air in schools, if allowed to be.

my dd's 1st nursery teacher is brilliant. she saw me last week when i was hospital. oh the shame of pushing a drip around and spotting dd1 teacher (dd1 didnt go to nursery that day either oops). didnt know her husband was a couple of years above me at school.

Thanks for starting this fio2- one of my lecturers at uni marched into the lecture hall one day with a hot water bottle under his arm, he put it on the table and stared at it- he'd carried it from home thinking it was his BRIEFCASE

Can't believe I offended someone with my remark abut DS1s teacher looking 12 - it certainly wasn't my intention, sorry. I'll slink off back to the dragon cave and my Oil of Olay age defying cream ...

Sorry too, just meant it in a "surely all Headteachers are at least 60" kind of way. Purely a comment about how we're getting older in relation to teachers (and policemen) and I'm sure this is how Soupy meant it too.

my son's teachers haven't always been brilliant. His year 2 teacher - nice guy, friend of ours - but a brilliant teacher? no.

Actually I thought he was fine at his job, ds was happy enough even if not progressing much. It was other teachers who told me he wasn't. And I needed some convincing because he was a friend.

Ds started a new school and they were very concerned about the year 2 teaching he had received. We have mutual teacher friends and they said this guy was pretty C* at his job too when closely questioned.

But that doesn't mean I think any the less of hmb or any other teacher. My sons other teachers on the whole have been ace. So hmb PLEASE come back!

one of my ds's teachers this year only qualified last year and she is so good - she's confident, cheerful, assertive, full of brilliant ideas and really enthusiastic - she is job sharing with the deputy head who has rturned from mat leave - also excellent - so I am a pleased mummy this year

My dd's teacher also looks v young 18ish and it is her first post but she scares the sh*t out of me and I don't think anyone would ever dare accuse her of not knowing what she was doing
