Hi
Any suggestions on where to buy 6th form suits that look OK without breaking the bank? M&S?
Thanks

next have a good range, as do matalan x

Got a couple from M&s for DS last year. Got 2 pairs of trousers to go with each jacket to help them last. They wash well.

Slater menswear

Debenhams, next, or just buy seperates

Matalan or surprisingly Primark. DS got some there. Look very nice and are reasonably ok for a 17cyear old, especially at the price. The cut us definitely better for a teenthan shops like M&S and Debenhams which are much older in style we found plus more expensive and the kids do wreck them a bit so not worth the extra money. Slso have a look in TKMaxx we have one from there too.

To be fair, M&S do a super slim range now which looks good on the teens.

Ebay is worth a look too if you're confident of size for a particular brand as sometimes they've bought suits for the Year 11 prom but grown out of them over summer and you can get some bargains!

DS's favourite suit is a navy super slim Charles Tyrwhitt one we got off ebay. It was hardly worn and he says he always feels so much better in it than high cheaper ones.

Zara are reasonable both style and price

Ds1 had suits from M&S - bit of a clothes horse tbh, however he looked after them even with walking to and from sixth form every day, and we ended up recouping around 50% of the initial outlay selling them on ebay after A levels.

DS2 M&S also, however John Lewis (kin range) route for DS3 who starts sixth form next month. Pretty much same price as M&S skinnys. Some of the range are also in the current John Lewis sale.

I do think though there is something to be said for Pebbles' final comment.

boys3 ha ha - I have to confess, his Charles Tyrwhitt suit made him realise that you get what you pay for in terms of clothes!

DS is very tall, so in the end we bought Tyrwhitt shirts (in the sale) too, as that is the only way we could get the extra length for him. He also prefers double cuff and cufflinks so he did look rather smart Smile
His form tutor made a joke about him being better dressed than most of the staff Grin

Not sure if this is true of M&S etc, but his Tyrwhitt trousers had sufficient material in the waist/bottom area to have them let out another 1 to 1.5 inches. However it was the suit jacket he grew out of first!

Pebbles574 · 07/08/2019 17:14

Good advice we had was to get them to alternate their suits (rather than wear the same one for weeks at a time) and to hang them in the bathroom (back of the door?) when showering as the steam lifts odours and creases out.
Make sure they learn how to properly hang them up each night too - worth investing in some good coat hangers.

Next and River Island both do skinny fit suits which are great for tall and skinny.

IrmaFayLear · 07/08/2019 17:19

Ds went to M&S. We were clueless but the gentleman there was incredibly helpful and found the perfect suit for a very skinny ds at a very reasonable price.

Blueandredandblue · 07/08/2019 17:24

I got dis two suits from Next. He likes them.

Debenhams - extra pairs of trousers. Can buy as jacket and trousers so if sizes are different i.e.. Bigger top to legs works well

Lara53 · 10/08/2019 10:01

We’ve just bought from M&S as Spark card offers had 20% off. I got 2 jackets and 4 pairs trousers plus 5 shirts. We got the slim fit range too. DS is 5ft 11 and slim and they fit really nicely without being super skinny
