UK Open Learning has been instructed to charge VAT on distance learning
courses and we feel that this yet another stealth tax from this
Government.

If you attend college then VAT is not charged so why should you have to
pay 17.5% more to study at home?

Many of our students are on a low income and need to study at home as they

cannot attend college due to work commitments and this tax will hit them
the hardest.

Please help our appeal against this decision by signing this petition on
the 10 Downing Street site.

They should get the same tax breaks that private schools enjoy. I am surprised as books are tax free.

Which recent ruling does this refer to? The petition is very unclear.

Private schools are only exempt if they are registered charities.

We are under the VAT turnover or we would have to charge VAT on tuition.
