I'm looking to buy in BS5 and am wondering what Summerhill Academy and Air Balloon Primary are like. I would really appreciate any Info at all if anyone sends their kids to these schools or knows anyone who does?

Hi,I don't know either of those but general Bristol advice is to also consider secondary schools even though they may seem a long way off because there are such challenges in Bristol with getting into a decent secondary. Of course they can change, but generally they don't.

I would recommend asking on the BS5 FB group to be honest. Am not sure how many MNetters live in BS5.
Bristol secondary schools are generally improving BTW and there are plans for some new schools over the next few years.
We stayed in Bristol for secondary education unlike the PP but dd went to a school that takes pupils from the across the whole city.

Yes if you can get into St Mary redcliffe or cathedral or Colston girls then secondary not a problem

Or if you want private school for secondary you will have lots of options. There are lots of great state and private second schools in Bristol, but it's wise to consider local options at an early stage or like pp you may be able to go to a school that takes children from across the city if you meet the criteria

There are plans for 3 new secondary schools in Bristol. One near Temple meads will be the closest to BS5.
The Cathedral trust are opening a new secondary school at a site in North Bristol (am not sure if it's local catchment or lottery admissions). There are also plans for a new school in BS4. These new schools should address the secondary school places needed for a growing city.
