Our primary joined a MAT 12 months ago and got a new head teacher from the MAT. The school is very smsll with less than 100 pupils and shrinking. The school governors (LGB) are weak and were merely cheerleaders for the previous head. Due diligence for joining the MAT was minimal.
2 terms on the new head has left. No notice just left - weasel word letter from chair of governors to explain this. And about a week later ofsted report about how poor the MAT is came out. It said the MAT is ineffective and failing its schools. Since then we've not heard a squeak from either the MAT not the LGB. I have phoned and emailed the MAT but received no response. Who is meant to monitor the MAT other than OFSTED? We live in a very small community and no one wants to make themselves unpopular and point out how crop the LGB is...
It seems our school is run by a bunch of amateurs and things are going from bad to worse.

The Secretary of State for Education is the principal regulator of academies. He delegates the function to the EFA.
