There are some very good typing tutor software available for children. Although they don't teach touch typing, they do teach sat typing, using correct fingers and they increase a child's awareness of the keyboard and where the letters are.

Many years ago I got a program called Mario teaches typing which was based in Mario Bros video game and you will learn to type while you played. I don't know if Mario is totally out of fashion and unknown to this generation of children but I'm sure there should be a similar way to learn typing by playing.

hi there
we use a really user friendly touch typing course with our pupils from year 5 upwards. They enjoy doing 5-10 mins at the start of lessons
