Any educational psychologists out there?

Hi all,

Are there any educational psychologists on here? I’m considering doing a psychology conversion masters then apply for the doctorate. Ive researched the clinical doctorate route but keeping my options open. I am a teacher so i know my experience is more relevant to educational psychology. Here are some questions if you could answer them please!

Are there many jobs for educational psychologists?
What are your working hours?
Do you work term time only?
Who does the recruitment for educational psychologists?
How is career progression?

Where we live they are crying out for EPs. They gave a lot of them the chop a few years back, now the back log for ECHPs is enormous cos the wait for an EP is around 6 months! So obviously they are having to recruit again.

I wanted to do this! But cant manage the 3 years full time over an hour away from home :(

Raffle that’s ressasuring and worrying at the same time. I won’t be applying anytime soon (probably 2 years from now) so things could change again. I’m nearly 30 so I’d want to change my career only if it guarantees a stable job :/

I’ve looked at changing profession. I’ve got a business undergrads degree and have looked at an online conversion course. So following with interest. Apparently it’s a very competitive area but I do see a lot of vacancies come up.

Always - after the conversion course you would need to complete a 3 year doctorate. Its paid and looks amazing but is really competitive to get onto!

I wish Id re-trained in the days teachers only needed to do a masters!
