Ladies, please could I have some pros and cons of The Mount. I have definitely ruled out QEB, St Peters and Pocklington. Thanks.

I've known people work(ed) at Fulford who found the pressure on staff and students immense; I know we are all under pressure but it was causing staff to leave after a few years unless They were part of 'the old crew' (every school has one!).

The parents I have known did not rate pastoral care, againnrelates to pressure and subsequent anxiety. Certainly not saying all other schools do, but it seemed to come up more often than anywhere else.

I have a daughter at The Mount. Happy to answer any questions if I can; you're welcome to pm me.

Upsydaisymummy - did you make a decision. Saw a strange thing about Bootham in press recently (safeguarding issue which was addressed immediately). Still not sure which way to go for our family

Not sure i would describe it as addressed immediately as some areas still not met in terms of safeguarding. Maryberry’s post illustrates the importance of visiting and taking most note of your own feelings as I fundamentally disagree with her over St Peters kids, i have met many and know a couple of the staff very well on a professional basis And have not found them arrogant at all, whereas I have found the only Bootham children I have met “ahem” rather spirited.
OP needs to decide what values she feels are most important in a school.

You’re right there was an incident but their openness and excellent communication with children and parents only strengthened my opinion of Bootham. It’s an excellent school and if something isn’t done as well as it should be, it’s acknowledged and acted upon. The children are lovely and most importantly happy. The Quaker ethos is so nurturing and encouraging and children thrive, do well and develop a fabulous attitude. Interestingly several children have come to Bootham when unhappy in some of the other schools. Wish I could have gone to a school like Bootham!
