Junior school application

I was worried that I'd not received the letter for DD's junior school offer so I rang admissions.
It turns out they haven't received my application for DD, they've said we have to send in an application which the emailed me - does this mean we're screwed for the school we wanted?

What did they say when you adled them?

MrsKrabbapple · 18/04/2019 18:54

Did you do it online? The first application?

Inatightsqueeze · 18/04/2019 19:29

No i did the original application by post. They say they haven't received it. I have no come back as I just stamped it and posted it in our nearest post box.
They've just said to fill in the form and send it back and they will make an offer of placement

Potentially you have lost out depending on which school you applied for. Would you definitely got in? Or was it going to be 'hopefully' would get in.
Maybe the school still has places? The problem is you can say you've posted it - but you may not off in their eyes , so you won't go to the top of the list as such otherwise everyone would 'forget' xx

Unfortunately you will be treated as a late application and allocated somewhere, which will be the closest School with a place. It might not be very close and it might not be a School you want
You can go on waiting lists for at schools you do want though and keep your fingers crossed

Thanks for replying. There are 2 junior schools that are local. One just down the road where the rest of DD's class will be going and one that is a bit further away.

It won't be the end of the world, but I did want her to move up with the children she knew.

Here's to fingers crossed

I hope it works out but as I said you will get the closest School with a place. That could be a few miles away, not necessarily local at all.
If it’s over a certain distance they have to provide transport .

You do sound quite casual - by post, not signed for? didn't ring to confirm receipt? What have you put as your third choice if the two local ones are full?

Inatightsqueeze · 21/04/2019 17:51

I've always applied by post (DS is 14) never sent it recorded and this is the first time I've had a problem.

The third is the school I work at which is across town, but wouldn't be a problem as I work there

Given the general stress and worry one sees, I commend you for your calm!

Inatightsqueeze · 29/04/2019 18:05

News came through today. Incredibly we've got the school we wanted. So relieved it's untrue!

That’s great!
