Good schools in Swindon

My British friend is an expat of 12 years. Her husband suddenly passed away abroad. They had a house in Swindon which is rented out and she is thinking it would be easier to move back there.

Could someone please advise about the good schools in Swindon? Her kids will be going into years 6 and 9 in September

Royal Wootton Bassett Academy is the best secondary school around for the year 9 child. And it would be good to live in catchment to get the younger child in there next year too.

My colleague lives in Swindon, north Swindon I think and sends her DC here its a very well regarded school. Another colleague sends her DCs here she talks well of it and my DH's ex boss sent his children here all did very well and went to RG universities. Apparently one to avoid is Kingsdown.
The catchment areas for the schools seems large I know other colleagues who also send their DC's to Ridgeways but live in Swindon.

I would look at schools outside of Swindon Councils jurisdiction. It doesn't have a good rep when it comes to education or for lots of other things.

So Farmors or Royal Wootton Bassett every time for me.

There's a new CofE school opening soon in Wichelstowe. Church schools normally do well although St Joseph's RC isn't great.
