How did I miss this?

Can't believe I've been so stupid...

This primary admissions process has been rollercoaster for me. What was my first choice became not even a choice at all and then she got offered third choice which had since become my first choice....
Then I saw the Ofsted report from 2017. 'Needs improvement' in all areas. How the hell did I miss this????????

I'm a huge believer in good schools and was hell bent on trying to send my daughter to the school with the best results. I haven't come on here to discuss whether this is right or not. We're all entitled to make our own decisions for our own children.

What I need to know is how often are Ofsted reports done?
What should I do now? My DD can be hard work! She needs a good school. I can't send her to one that needs improvement can I?

I could cry. I'm so angry at myself for missing this. I'm not going to sleep tonight

Eeeeek you really should have looked at the school first. That being said don't let the ofsted report be the only thing to put you off. As a pp said there are some 'outstanding' schools and 'good' schools that haven't been inspected for so long and if they were inspected today would be requires improvement or worse! They'll have Ofsted again next year and will probably then be 'good'. Remember its not all about the day to day teaching or teachers specifically, it's the wider picture.

I've Ben a chair of governors and was involved with schools for many years. All schools can con Ofsted! Good schools can really be awful schools or coasting schools. They also swap artwork with other schools & 'hide' naughty children who mysteriously are off sick during Ofsted. The schools my DC attended were considered weaker when we chose them & both improved massively without cheating (thankfully), but I guarantee these happened because teachers told me they've been part of fixes. I originally chose a school with a average Ofsted and the lowest but improving SAT results. Glad I did as it was the best option for my children.

Don't let Ofsted panic you! Schools requiring improvement have masses of expertise thrown at them and are monitored regularly. I would not allow one Ofsted report to put me off unless I had other factual information to base my concerns on
