Hi Everyone,

I am planning to move this summer to Isle of Wight. I am not sure where to start when it comes to searching for schools. I have three children, one child to go to primary school, another child to go to secondary school and another child to go to sixth form/college.

Could anyone please recommend any good rated schools or schools they have experience of? Thank you so much for your help!

Victoria

This would be a good place to start together with the Ofsted and parent view sites

Really depends what side of the island you're moving to. It's quite easy because there are only seven secondary schools (and one private).

Ryde Academy, Medina, Sandown, Christ the King College, Carisbrooke - all dreadful. CTKC was a bitter better at one point I think, but is Ofsted Inadequate again now.

Cowes - I think it's got better in recent years. Rated Good by Ofsted.
Island Free School - Rated Good by Ofsted. A relatively new school, so no experience from when I lived there.

Ryde Private - a mediocre level private school, if you can afford that and are inclined that way.

Lots of sixth formers commute to Brockenhurst or Havant college because the island sixth forms are bad.

So unless you live close to Cowes or Island Free School and can get your child in there... maybe don't move there (Just kidding! Sort of).
