My sons just got into Shrewsbury House School.
Not much on the internet about the school.
Does anyone have any feedback!

Do you mean the boy's prep school in Long Ditton, Surrey? You need to add more details to your post.

I have friends whose sons went to Shrewsbury House School and I have only ever heard positive comments. It has good facilities and is very sporty and seems to get good results, as in secondary school entrance.

My DS' have been very happy - excellent school with fantastic extra curricular activities. Especially strong for music and sport. Very inclusive and makes sure all boys have opportunities, not just those with talent or aptitude. Academics are very strong too and in my experience boys have always managed to exceed expectations in terms of the senior schools they apply to - the headmaster has excellent relationships with Senior Schools and I think this really makes a difference. If you are aiming for schools like St Pauls, KCS, Eton, Westminster then (providing its right for the boy) Shrewsbury house will get them there.

How is it going I may ask

Fedupwantchocolate · 12/05/2021 12:59

I am at SHS parent with a DS in year 8 and another in the lower years. I am sad to say I think that the glory days of SHS are in the past. The new headmistress has gone down like a ton of bricks and her style is somewhat autocratic. Parents are very unhappy and I for one will be taking my younger DS out after year 6 as I don’t think that it will be a good place to be in year 7 and 8.

Okkkk · 12/05/2021 13:28

What is SHS ? Surbiton high ?

Okkkk · 12/05/2021 13:30

Ah sorry . SHS !! Sorry . Thanks so much for your insights. Happy we didn’t go there in the end.

I was really surprised to read this. We really like her after an fantastic experience with her as Head of The Rowans , and have chosen SHS for this very reason. So would be interested to know what she has done/changed that is so upsetting?

May I ask your opinion? I would like to know the recent opinion

Rosmin · 07/06/2023 13:01

@Zingapopo - Hi, seeking your feedback as you accepted the offer in Shrewsbury. How has your experience been? I am looking for year 3 entry.

Zingapopo · 07/06/2023 20:32

My boys are both leaving this year. One is going to start year 9 at Eton the other year 7 at Cranmore.
The management changed. It depends what kind of boy you have. If your child is more creative and a bit playful, they will struggle a bit. It’s very strict! My experience the last couple of years has been a mixed bag of emotions.
