i have called the 3 schools in wlaking disatnace of me. the closest one is full, 2nd closest has bad rep, low scores and does have places, 3rd one i am waiting to call back to see if they have places. i have now called every school in the town. one further away has 2 spaces so may have to move dd1 into their nursery to secure a place for her at the school. This is so hard.

I know its ridiculous!

We moved four months ago and I still couldnt get ds a playgroup or nursery place, unitl today

I would just keep pestering but hopefully someone will have some practical advice

did you have a place before you moved? how far away is it? this is exactly why i don't want to move until we've found both a house and a school which will have us. bit chicken & egg though..

the school where she has a place is in the next town. i dont drive atm (will start my lessons soon) so cant expect dh to make a 30-45min round trip twice a day to get her to school.

The 3rd school in walking distance has phoned to say they do have places, and they are sending out an information pack and then we can phone to look round it.

I didnt really have a choice with regards to moving where we are, as its a council place and its one of the few areas with family sized bungalows. just really wish we could get dd1 into the closest school as its excellant and about half the size of the other 2 that have places.

misdee-can't you put her name on the waiting list for the nearest school? Also is it your DH who has health problems? LEA schools generally have priority for kids who have health/social reasons for attending a particular school. Have you spoken to the LEA as well as the schools?
