Charterhouse parents

Hi,
My son has been offered a place at Charterhouse for Sept '19, Yr9 entry. Late application and we have two weeks to decide.

I'm pretty happy, it's a great school, he is excited, but I just would like other opinions, be they good or bad about their child's experience at Charterhouse. His other offer is a day school - so it's very much a lifestyle choice.

Also, can any Charterhouse parents tell me whether they are able to go to many matches, chapel, recitals etc - as I would love to be able to.

My DS is going September 2019. All communication with school plus their Facebook and Twitter accounts seem to encourage attendance at concerts, matches etc. We live close enough to be able to do this fortunately.

I’ve had a couple of boys there. One is still in the Specs (6th form).
The new head has shaken things up for the better - it’s certainly softened up a bit which is a very good thing.
There’s lots of parents at weekend sports matches home or away. Often very few parents at some other events which parents can attend. I have been the sole attendee at some things. The school doesn’t over encourage parental involvement, but as I say it has recently got a bit better in that regard.
Sometimes you may have to remind the school that it’s complementary to family life not an obstacle to it.
My boy who is still there loves loves loves it.
