DS 7 how to use this interest in drawing for developing his English writing/ Comprehension skills?

My DS 7 yo loves drawing, just anything from aliens to submarines etc. I wonder how to use this interest in drawing for developing his English writing/ Comprehension skills? I tried storyboard, tried drawing images to the text that was read...anything other activities that I could do please? Thank you

Get him to draw comic strips

Mind maps or drawing out the descriptions of characters and locations. Drawing literal depictions of simile. Ie hair like spun gold. Bobbin with yellow thread like hair curlers? Or eyes that are like the ocean. Enlarged turquoise eye with fish and coral swimming around a pupil island?

Agree with PP get him to make his own comic or illustrated story book. Get him a book about art with a small amount of writing he can read himself.
