Greenwich Steiner School- any experience

We are looking for a primary school for our 4 year old and wanted to find out about people's experiences of Greenwich Steiner School. I have seen a lot of opinions posted online but all from a very long time ago. I would like to know if you have sent/send your children there and what your opinion of it is. Also, the most recent Ofsted report has graded it as requiring improvement- should I be concerned?

Seriously!

Leaving aside that the Ofsted is so recent, and probably triggered by the general inspection of all Steiner schools due to serious issues at others... you can read lots more about this on here, and concerns about Steiner beliefs etc....

I don’t know the school. My children went to an RI school and their report was worse than that one (it is now good). However - that was our local state school and no one was charging me £8k pa per child for the pleasure.

If your child is 4, they have one year of the EYFS which is meant to be good, and then you are into uncharted territory.

Personally, I would want to do better.

Their Ofsted isn't nearly as bad as some of the other London based Steiner schools. But I wouldn't pay money for a private Steiner school if there were good state options available to me.

It's better than the London Steiner School in Balham - I mean where do you ever start with this report? files.api.ofsted.gov.uk/v1/file/50052433 The aspects they've pulled from the Ofsted report and highlighted on their website are misleading in the extreme. londonsteinerschool.org/inspections/

Clicking through from the London Steiner School’s website to the report made me genuinely gasp out loud, CroakingCrocus. That puts Greenwich in perspective all right.

Please don’t be so silly as to send your child here. That report is so worrying, and yes you should be worried about the most recent foster report! I have worked as a nanny for kids who went to the Greenwich Steiner and they’re mother took them out because one of the children ‘escaped’ the classroom one day and took some time to find him. Also I was asked to work in the early years by a mum I just knew-to-see, I have no teaching qualifications so if that’s not worrying, I don’t know what is. How is this place still open?

Sorry for my typos

Since when does "being asked by a mum" constitute a job offer by a school?! Just by listening to how ridiculous the logic of those slandering Steiner schools is, one is more and more convinced that ignorance and hate are the only drivers behind the criticism that is brought to the Waldorf-Steiner movement. Waldorf's liberal education values (widely recognizable in Scandinavian schools, that UK schools are by the way light-years behind) clash with the very parochial and philistine mentality of the parents that want "a Russell group university place" for their progeny. Hence the witch hunt that Waldorf schools are subjected to, the gossip that busy yoga queens like to spew over their paper Costa coffee cups, and the upper lip stiffness detectable in each story about this incredible (and very international) alternative schooling system. Get over your hate, get your hand on a book instead of gossiping, and inform yourself about Steiner. He was an astute scholar of Goethe, a Ph.D. in Philosophy, and a philanthropist. Things that many of you, hard-working commentators, I am afraid are not.

I think a friend of a good friend has or recently had children there. Let me know via message if you’d like me to get some contact details for you if they’re happy to share.
