7+ applications questions

I am rather confused by all the 7+ ‘rules’ so excuse my ignorance and any help at all is greatly appreciated!

My family and I are planning to move from our commuter town to London next year.
Dd summer born and is in year 1.

Will it affect us when applying if we do not have a London address? We are selling our house now and will rent around whichever school dd gets a place at and then buy again so it shouldn’t really affect us but not sure how it will look when applying if we are outside of London.

Also if we are applying for schools who’s deadlines for 7+ applicants run up to a certain date, if we apply nearer the deadline will this also go against us?

Hope that makes sense. TIA

Are you applying for a school in the private or state sector? It will make no difference in the private sector but you must have a London address before you can apply for a state school.

It does not matter if you don't have a London address, there are even applications from overseas. That's very normal.

For registration, it depends on the school. Some school only take, say, 150 or 200 applicants per year, so it's better to register early. If the school does not limit the number of applicants, then it does not matter as long as you register before deadline.

Thank you @organiccoffee ! Ok I will just go ahead and apply then.

I didn’t realise there was a 7+ in the state sector @jeanne16 but I meant private.

No. It doesn't matter when you apply. They are all invited to take the test and that and the interview determine the outcome. I registered my son 2 days before closing.

Which schools? Have you started to prepare yet? Year 1 is when most of the preparation is done.....
