Safer Internet Day

Hello! I've been asked to give a talk (yes me!) to a class of primary six children about social media. I haven't done anything like this before but I know you should feel the fear and do it anyway! Can any educators out there offer some advice on how to engage this age group and make my talk interesting? Thank you!

Not an educator, just a parent.
Primary 6 is English year 5, so 9 & 10 year olds?

Random thoughts:

I'd be tempted to start by asking hands up how many have access to youtube, Instagram etc.

There is a great short video about letting strangers into your home which people do by giving free internet access - might get them thinking?

Short, visual, relevant. Not statistics.`

Presumably covering bullying / being mean, fake truth, dodgy sites, dodgy people, how to report?

Some will be quite switched on re dangers.
Some will probably have had experience of people saying/doing things online.
Some will be very naïve on why people might pretend to be what they aren't.
