Lambrook Prep

I am considering Lambrook for my two DSs for Lambrook to start in Yrs 2 and 3. We had been looking at single sex for prep level, by Lambrook looks really great so I've added it to the list. Would be interested in the views of any current / recent parents out there - particularly parents of boys? I've heard nothing negative so far. Thanks.

Hi @JBMall
My eldest is registered to start at Papplewick next September. So would be the year below yours. I'm so impressed with the place, but just can't imagine my currently 5 yr old boarding! Im sure by the time he's 11 we'll be used to the idea but some days I get very cold feet. Such a great opportunity for them though. When do you have to commit out of interest? Round about now I'd have thought?

Hi @legoninjago1 - it’s def hard to imagine them boarding when they’re so young, but I think that one of the benefits of somewhere like Papplewick is that everyone boards and starts at the same time, and there’s lots of time to get prepared for it in the earlier years. I hope so anyway! I have friends with sons at Caldecott which is a similar model and by all accounts by the time the boarding comes around they all think it’s just what you do and seem to love it. I boarded from 11 at a girls senior school and absolutely loved every minute of it, despite some home sickness right at the start.
We are late committing - we had initially pushed his registration back to year 3, but some unexpected changes mean we are moving sooner than thought and so I’ve asked to bring it forward to year 2 again and luckily they still have a space for him. I think normally you commit at the start of the academic year preceding entry - but I may be wrong.
I’m also so impressed with it - I feel like at this point I’ve looked at every prep school in the south east due to not being sure where we would be living, and Papplewick always stood out for us. Good luck with it all!

Thank @JBMall you too! Yes I think we'd have to commit by Sept. Still have one school left to see but am so keen on Papplewick. It's also very close to us. I also boarded and enjoyed it. It's a funny feeling though when it's your babies! Which were your 2nd / 3rd choices if you don't mind me asking?

@legoninjago1 I also loved both lambrook and Caldecott - we are in chiswick so need a achool with a bus from west London. Where else are you considering?

Ah ok. We moved from SW London to Ascot so are in the thick of it! Really would prefer single sex at this age so Woodcote House and St Johns Beaumont are the other two options. Very different from each other, but really liked them both. Woodcote doesn't start until Yr 3 though and we have a younger boy too so that could be tricky. Due to see Hall Grove too as I believe it's very boy heavy so that may possibly work for us. Caldicott looks fabulous and similar to Papplewick. It's hard to know the best thing to do. But we have a couple of terms to go before final commitment required i think.

@JBMall May I ask your final decision is which school? Your shortlist are exact same as mine! I am struggling so... Thanks in advance!
