sweden - any experience of education system?

I know it's a long shot but as we may be living in Stockholm for the next year I'm looking for any information/advice on schools, international or local. Also, if anyone has home-educated while living abroad, how did you encourage your children to meet local kids??
Any ideas or information very gratefully received...

What age are your children? I have a friend in sweden I could email.

Thank you - Dds are 10 and 8 - just started years 6 and 4 - and ds is 7 (year 3) ?dyslexic?. Baby is 7 months so not involved.
I've spoken to school here - dd will take her 11 plus here in November so we'll either wait or fly back for that.
Any insider information would be great - is your friend Swedish or from UK?

She is swedish, was living over here with dh as a flat mate when we got together. Met a bloke in London, had a baby with him, got married , then went back to sweden and had a couple more. But we are still in touch. If you email me with a list of questions via cat, I will pass them onto her.

wizzysmum - DH's cousin (English)is married to a Swedish man and living in Sweden - have done for many years. They have 3 children who have all been through the Swedish system. The eldest is now at uni in the UK, the second eldest just finish college I think, and the youngest is about 11 or 12. From what I can gather all have done very well and are at least on a par with pupils over here in the UK. The eldest did come over here to go to a UK school for a year when she was about 14 and she was in no way behind and actually ahead in many subjects.

If you let me know the types of things you'd like to know about I can e-mail them - the eldest is also doing work experience at DH's law firm right now too so may see her personally shortly. I am sure they'd be happy to tell you all they know.

Thanksn for your replies. My main concern is how children have fitted in socially in Swedish schools and if anyone has insider knowledge of International schools around Stockholm. New concern - ds has been diagnosed as dyslexic. Not really major news to us but will I be able to find a British dyslexic tutor out there, or will it be easy for me to find morning childcare in the home for dd (7 months) while I teach the children at home? Also, do people tend to have cleaners etc and are they very expensive?? Am very lazy housewife with far more interest in having fun with and educating kids than cleaning, especially during this once in a lifetime experience!
