Short and sweet...is there a difference between a C+G Award and a C+G Diploma? If so...what is it? (The difference)

This is a guess based on my DD's BTEC. Posting partly so I see the reply.

I would expect an 'Award' to be a lower level or smaller qualification than a Diploma.

I could be completely wrong.

Is there a 'Level' tag against it? Level 2 is GCSE level, Level 3 is A level 'equivalent'.

Can you tell anything from the number of teaching hours or the entry requirements?

Well I am also assuming a diploma is higher than an award as the course for the award is only for a few months and the diploma is a year and seem more complex, only the website is very poorly created and there are mistakes all over it so I just wanted to make sure that an award and diploma were two separate things as the two courses at level 2 are both titled in the same way whereas the level 1 and 3 state diploma in the title.

Ie level 2 floristry- click on title- states gain as award
Level 2 floristry - click on title - states gain as diploma

Basically I just didn't want to mistake an award as someone's laziness for just stating the obvious in that you are awarded rather than it being a leisure course instead of an award being an actual type of qualification but maybe less recognized than a diploma. I know I sound dumb but the website really is quite messy in it's information or lack of

You don't sound dumb at all. When DD1 did her BTEC I found information generally unclear or invisible. Smile
