HI we're moving to Beds area, Sandy, Henlow, Potton, Biggleswade. Haven't bought yet so will consider other areas if anyone knows the good schools near these areas.Does anyone know where the good lower schools are in these areas and what childcare is available?!? Would also like a catholic school but they seem few and far between up there?! Grateful for any info.
Thanks :O

one of the estate agents said that Sandy was rough at times... but it doesn't seem like that to me? Perhaps I'm not looking in the right places...

In terms of things for the dc's to do as they get older, things are better here than they were, I have a teen aswell as a soon to be school ager. And he doesn't struggle for things to do, they have gigs at the local youth club and a skate park etc. But they do have to expend a bit of energy to find these things. Ds spends friday with his head in the Chronicle looking for things to do for the following week.

Like everything, it depends where you are, there are rough bits and posher bits. I only had one friend who lived in Sandy and she's moved. She never had any trouble there tho'.

whats the nice parts of biggleswade?

The older bits are the best, avoid Saxongate like the plague, it's a new build estate, which isn't a wrong thing, but I know someone there who's 2 year old stairs collapsed!! Dell's Lane and anywhere near the Ivel, Ivel gardens is VERY nice, right by the river but the houses are expensive. I like it here now, but hated it when I first moved here. Fairfield end is nice, most of it is a housing estate.

oh we seen a house for sale in Dells Lane, we were thinking of going to see it. Been around Saxon houses are all on top of each other. Can'r believe the stairs collapsed!

If you want to guarantee your child a place at Southlands which is the top lower, Kitelands which is 50's privately owned council houses and very sturdily built, is the area to be. London Road is also nice but a main road.

I have a couple of friends in Dells Lane and they are very happy there, there's a nice park nearby too.

rantinghousewife · 01/07/2007 22:10

The catchment for Dells Lane varies depending on which end of it you are. Some of it falls under St Andrews and some of it is Southlands.

seen another in appletree close, which is near there I think

Used to be, Southlands latest ofsted was outstanding. I know of at least 3 peeps who transferred their dc's there from elsewhere, this term.

rantinghousewife · 01/07/2007 22:18

Potton Road is quite up and coming, some parts of it are quite pretty, it's a main road.

rantinghousewife · 01/07/2007 22:19

Anyhow good luck, gotta turn in for night. Will let you know on here when I get the prosps.

Taistar · 01/07/2007 22:21

Taister, had a chat with a friend who's dd goes to southlands, she asked the about a propectus when she did the school run, no luck, apparently the new ones are at the printers but, she did get the web page details for the ofsted off them as follows school\109\s510952520061010.xmlhere.
And the potton ofsted is here.
Hope this helps a little, anything else just let me know.
