student loans - effect of a parents death/insurance?

my friend's wife is concerned that the full grants/ loans her children got when their father was ill will be reduced because she will receive insurance payments after his recent death. Any loan experts who will know if capital affects the payments?

Thanks, they have hardly any money until after probate, that will be a relief.

Most the student loan is not income based at all. Plenty of millionaires' children get the student loan. If you are very poor then I think you can get a fairly small extra grant so it is probably that they're talking about. That is based on family income which annoys some poor mothers because their new partner may be quite well off so their children who aren't supported by the new partner lose out.
