Eaton Square, Hill House, or Newton Prep?

Hello all!

Trying to compare these three schools for my DS, any thoughts?

Would be really helpful to know:

  • Are they good schools?
  • Any idea whether fees are going to go up in the next few years?
  • Any thoughts on the effect Brexit might have, e.g. on diversity, number of pupils? My wife is an EU national and we'd be keen for an international pupil mix!

Thanks in advance!
Andrew

Hello. Yes they are all reckoned good schools but you'd need to visit and see if they'd suit your child and if your child would suit them... Fees never go down! It is not unusual for fees to go up a couple of hundreds every/most years. As for (a narrow definition of) diversity, this is London so always a mix of nationalities, with Hill House having a reputation for being perhaps the more international of the three. Check the good schools guide in the first instance if you have not already done so. Good luck!

They are all good schools, but very different. Have a look and trust your instinct about any of them.

Eaton Square has long been seen as an expats school. As has Hill House, so it is likely that at least 50%, probably more, of children will have two parents born overseas, with a good proportion of the rest having at least one. Newton Prep, because of its large Clapham/Battersea catchment, used to have more British children, but your wife might be reassured that with the relocation of the American Embassy and the massive residential developments by the river the ratios are changing.

My son has just started at Newton Prep and his class is very international - the majority of children have at least one parent born overseas.
