Just that really.

Working in pharma manufacturing at the moment. Engineering education background & pervious work exp. Have one DC hopefully DC2 on way within the next year.

Struggling with shift pattern atm but can hold out untill DC2. After then will unluckily return to current job role due to hours of work, much the same problem with other business's within the same sector.

Looking to retrain/develop via online courses over the next 18 months but not sure what sort of route to take, project management etc? Help!

My husband is a software/hardware engineer and has good flexible hours of work. Are you willing to re-locate your family? If not then perhaps look on a jobs website at what is on offer around where you are (bear in mind, if you have to travel a long distance that eats into ur time too - I commute 1hr each way - fortunately only work 3 days per week).

I'm an engineer in the oil and gas industry. Due to the oil price it's been hard to find work in the last 4 years. Several times people have said to me why don't I retrain or do something else. And I could bit I've done this for 20 years do starting again doesn't appeal.
How long have you done the job? How long in the industry? I would look at alternative roles in the same industry so you don't have start again. Product / process development? Project management? Design? Anything without a shift. Good luck!

Hello @user1483972886 this job just over 2 years, then two years as an apprentice on shift & 3 years before that in college. Yes I'm hoping to stay within manufacturing/engineering but develop skills around the jobs that run on day shifts like you have mentioned. I bought myself an online project management course and I am just finishing up my first assignment this evening! @Namenic I would love to relocate, I am always telling DP if he sees a job in another area of the country or even another country that he really wants to apply for then he shouldn't worry about us relocating as I am more than happy too, sadly he isn't! We are very lucky at the moment that are work commute is 7 minutes, with childminders house & school on route!!
