School music lesson - Agreement/contract.

Not sure if it's a contract or agreement.

We were of the understanding that the contract was for his first year at school. Our son stopped lessons half way through the year and we agreed to continue paying.

Today, the teacher called saying we now had to pay for the next year. We are now in disagreement as the timeline in the agreement is no clear. We said he was aware our son had stopped and that the contract was for the year. He said he thought it would be clear it was open ended. This was never verbally suggested or mentioned....

We feel that contract is void but he is referring to the termination policy even though we felt this was for the year 1.

Any advice? There is no cooling off period either and he had never even asked or checked about year 2 either which we expected would be common practice.

Best wishes

Michael & Nichola

Normally to terminate school music lessons you need to provide a terms written notice of termination.

It's ok. It was waived. Illegal contract as it didn't even have a cooling period which all private lessons must have as they are bowed deemed traders....

How odd! Glad you have it sorted! That could have proved costly!
