Hello, I'm looking for resources to teach English to my Year 3 child. We live out of the UK and although he's seven he only reads in English. There are no concerns with his ability in the foreign language.

So far, I've checked the Letts Activity book but then I thought there might be other more exciting books or resources. He needs to be up-to-speed for a Sept 2019 start in a mainstream UK school. He loves telling stories, games and magazines.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Hi, I home ed (also living outside the UK, and put them in school when we are in the UK). I use Cambridge Primary English. It’s a great course. Good teacher’s guide and quite full. You’d want to get the Cambridge Primary English 3, Teacher’s Resource, Activity Book and Learners book. All available on amazon. My daughter is using book 3 at the moment. If you PM me I can try to send you some sample pages to look at it.

Ooo, I'll have a look tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion!

I think I misunderstood you yesterday. Are you saying he reads in English but doesn’t write much in it? You probably want to start a level down in that case. Also there are ways you can get his spelling up to speed. happy to chat more.

Hi plums, yes, he reads well but has no experience writing in English. I'll be happy to look at some sample pages if it's easy for you to send. Thanks so much!

This site follows English NC. It's not too expensive to be a member, but you can also practice up to 10 questions daily for free.

Also this site is great for writing. You can see the samples of children's writing too. pobble365 has lots of inspirational pictures for writing stories and suggested activity.
