If your child weekly boards, do they bring all their washing home, or does the school do it mid week? I'm thinking games kit, uniform, bedding.

Not usually. My DS boards 2 nights a week & sends bedding/towels/clothes to the school laundry. Generally brings sports kit home though.

Weekly boarder here. all clothes including bed linen washed by school.

When DD was weekly boarding they did laundry on a Thursday, so everything was done there. Only exception was if we picked her up after a match on a Saturday - I would then wash her games kit over night so she could take it back clean on Sun eve.

I was a week boarder before I became a termer; school did all the laundry.

School did laundry but ..... lots of the girls felt it wasn’t done well and underwear went grey for example. So, lots came home! They shrank things too so be careful about home clothes.

My children don't board but the boarding school I work in does the laundry for all the children who board 4 nights a week or more.

Great. Thanks all. I'll have to start training dd about washing bags etc then. Goodness knows how much stuff she's going to loose! At least I won't have to do a quick weekend turnaround then.

Name tag home clothes too! They do not really lose home clothes because they are all wearing something different. Uniform is the bigger problem because it all looks the same! And they borrow each others kit!

Many of the parents had the large Ikea type bags for washing and did a quick round up of washing with their DC whenthey collected them. We gave ours linen washing bags with their names on to stuff washing into. If you are weekly boarding, it will not be a huge amount anyway. Its just the personal stuff you do not want spoilt! I knew a lot of the mums did washing because their children liked the "smell" of home washing - the fabric conditioner. It reminded them of home!

Dd brought hers home (not her bedding). School washed some stuff in the week but she tended to bring her uniform and dance kit home at weekends.
