Wondering if they are any good?

I recommend the cgp ones. The workbooks are also good. Check the price by ordering direct through cgp.

RoboJesus · 10/07/2018 21:58

Thanks. Would it make sense to get both the textbooks and work books at the same level or just one or the other do you think? I know some of these textbook types have work book type sections in them anyway

School recommended the oxford range this is the biology one as the matches the text books they use.

TheThirdOfHerName · 11/07/2018 07:24

DS2 (just sat GCSEs) used the Oxford range as shown by Lonecat

I bought him CGP revision guides and workbooks but he didn't use either. He finds the CGP layout too busy on the eye, and the textbook had plenty of questions.

TheThirdOfHerName · 11/07/2018 07:27

Any book of Maths questions tailored to the new (9-1) syllabus would be fine, but bear in mind that there are now quite a few free practice papers online.

I've bought the Maths one for DS who is going into yr10. I think at this stage it is helpful just to be able to dip in to practice topics.

Isn't your daughter 4? I'd hold back a bit if I was you.

Thanks guys. I guess I should really go find them in a shop and have a flick through first

I'm a secondary maths teacher and we recommend the CGP ones. Even when i was at school i found them quite informal and helpful. Get the work books and the revision guide. However, we don't offer them to the students until at least midway through yr10, otherwise the students are left with a revision guide on a lot of topics that they haven't covered yet which can be very daunting and throw them off!

RoboJesus · 11/07/2018 13:28

That's why I thought about getting the textbooks rather than revision books, or are they not that different?
