LRGS- Lancaster royal grammar school

Hello all,
I am new to this forum.
My son is starting LRGS this september and is going to be a Boarder as we live a distance away. Is there anyone here, whose son goes to LRGS?
Any information will be highly appreciated.

Well done to your DS @LoonyLunaLoo. It is a fab school and both my DS's are happy there. Unfortunately it's quite a long wait now before he will start but if he has done 11+ then SATS won't be too much of an issue so your son can enjoy the rest of Y6

We are living aboard. My son and my daughter will be full boarders at LRGS, could some one please update the latest situation of the school. How is the rules of using mobile phone? How will be the activities during weekend? The boarding life for the girls which is new. Please share some information. Thanks.

@ymc100 my DS is a boarder in Yr 7 but obviously the school is closed at the moment given the covid situation in the UK. DS had his first term there September - December and he loved the weekend activities but they were nearly all based in the school itself given the general restrictions here. When are your DC due to start?

Re: mobile phones, I can only tell you about Yrs 7 and 8 - the phones are taken away overnight but otherwise DS would get his at around breakfast time and would have it for the whole day (some classes require them to use their phones) until they hand them back in before bedtime. So lots of time to contact parents etc if that is what you are asking for?

I'm afraid I can't comment on how girls are fitting in but I haven't heard anything negative about their experiences.

Thanks for your reply. My DC will start in September 2021. It is good to hear that there are activities for the students I would like them to join more school activities instead of spend all the time to play mobile games.
