DD1 is (end of) year 4 and working at high level 4's/low 5's across all subjects. From what I gather this is what you'd hope for on average at end of yr 6. So do any of the brighter kids achieve level 6's at primary level? A teacher friend said they didn't at the school she used to work at because they couldn't teach enough of level 6 to be able to award it. Is this the same for most primary schools in Wales?
Reason for question is that catchment comp is dire and other nearish good one is oversubscribed. In the spirit of looking at all options I will consider independent sector but realistically could only do it if they threw a large bursary at us. Which I guess depends on academic abilities and hence question about levels. Having done a bit of research I'm confident she could pass entrance exam as they expect evidence of level 5, which she is doing now. One of the schools I looked at though mentioned evidence of level 6's for scholarships etc. (which is why I'm wondering if level 6 would be feasible for a bright child).
