I was wondering if I hand in a terms notice at a private school, can I retract it if we changed our minds ?

Only if there is still a place available I would guess.

Depends if they fill the space on the back of it.

You can't unilaterally withdraw it but presumably if they haven't filled the space then presumably they'd be happy to agree.

At some schools you can give provisional notice which allows you to change tour mind, talk to the bursar

At my daughters prep school, I gave them ‘rolling notice’ as I was waiting to hear from another independent about moving her and was awaiting entry results (this was out of normal admissions time -yr 5 hence the strange timescale) her original prep were happy with the rolling notice and all I did was tell the bursar her exit date once it was known, with no penalties.
