Singing grading question - theory question

If you are doing a grading and you sing a song in a different key to the original sheet music - on which version do you answer your theory exams on - will it be on the original sheet music or on what you actually sing? Is there a difference if you provide the original sheet music to the examiner but sing in a different key. Thanks very much.

I think you need to define what sort of grading you are referring to. In Abrsm exams neither of these questions apply, if that helps at all

Oh, I think i know what you mean.
mine always took in the piece she had used for practice which was the key she sang it in. I'm not sure of the rules, but if you look at the appropriate boards rules on their website it will tell you.
I'm sure it's the key you are singing in, but not 100%.

I'm lost on your theory question, as there aren't any theory questions in the practical exams.

I'm not sure if you can find the answer in here, if the board is ABRSM, if it is and you still can't find the answer, try the forum.

She isn’t doing Abrsm if she is doing theory or having to hand over music

It is Trinity

Try on the extra curricular talk topic, also in education. Someone there will know

I never did trinity so not cure but I would have thought the music you take into a singing exam must be at the pitch at which you sing and you would not be allowed to change key. I presume if Trinity allow a change of key in the exam the theory will be on the original key because they might have picked a difficult key signature to test you out and if you can just sing in C major to get easier theory questions i cannot see how that could work or be fair.

You’d be pretty silly to chsnge the key of a song to make the theory easier, it’s usually done to suit vocal range especially in young people’s changing voices.

Songs may be sung in any key published or transposed up to Grade 5 & the examiner refers to the candidates printed score so if your pianist is transposing at sight the questions will be based on the printed music.
