My DS is starting this Sept in Yr9 and just wanted to know how your children are getting on and if they, and you are happy with school ?

Hi whowherewhywhat,
Yes, We’ve got a child at Reddam House Berkshire - both parties are happy. The school seems to going from strength to strength - the numbers of students are growing rapidly but still a friendly feel. Academics, sports, performing arts and extra curricular are all going well for us. AstroTurf is about to be finished and just got an email about the refurbishment of the swimming pool. Good care from the Head and tutor too. Hope you are happy there too.

We have 3 children at Reddam, just finishing years 2, 7, and 9. This has been our first year here and all have settled in really well, made loads of friends, and generally had a great time :-)

Happy to answer any questions you might have.

Many thanks for the replies 😁👍 Particularly interested in the sport as DS really into sport, especially football and tennis and likes the look of the gym 😁 I’m really interested in the weekly cycle testing, do you find it helps your children have the right ‘revision material’ to help them revise for final tests? DS really looking forward to the use of a surface pro for class work etc, do you find they use this extensively in and out of school for homework?
It looks like a lot of change and improvements have happened over the last couple of years, DS looking forward to new school and new friends, they were all very welcoming when he attended taster day...

Interested to read this thread, thanks. We are moving to Berkshire - daughter will start Yr 8 in Sept 2019. Thinking of living in Wokingham. I imagine kids come from a wide distance to get to the school (and I see that they have a bus route which covers Wokingham). As we will be new to the area though, I wondered how many kids from Wokingham go to Reddam - or will she be the outsider, with most local kids going to nearby state schools ? I think she won't be living in the area soon enough to get into Holt.

Any advice gratefully received....

From what we’ve seen so far it is a good mix of local and wider local area and boarding, which is what we were looking for, a good mix ( based on open days and taster day so far :))

Hi again,
Let me give you our views on the cycle tests. We think they’ve really helped. The exams for the end of year have just finished and our child said it was easier to prepare for them by using the previous test and the model answers they’d been given through the year. The same questions didn’t come up on the end of year paper though! 😉. Surface Pros have been really liked by the students, it seems. Ours is used daily, very often multiple times, and really useful at night for prep. In our year the majority come from Wokingham or villages that surround. Some do board or travel in on the minibuses though. Hope that helps. It’s a big thing moving school so always happy to offer some views if it will help.

Thanks so much Tired, that’s what I was hoping for, model answers and comprehensive revision notes, then it’s up to him to revise 😁

Thank you very much for the quick reply. I may well come back with questions ! V pleased to hear that a lot of the kids come from Wokingham. What are their academic results like in your experience?

Tiredbutstillwithapulse · 26/06/2018 07:12

Totally agree, Whowhere. :-). Hi Relocation, results seem to be going up Year on Year. If I remember correctly, the school sent out a flyer after the GCSE and A level results showing the improvements subject by subject. Bet they’d send on to you if you ask? # wish my filing system was up to finding it! ;-)

Hi. We are relocating to the UK from the US. I'm looking for a co-ed school for my son aged 8 and daughter aged 10 and Reddam House looks perfect. Does anyone know how the commute would be from Shiplake or Hurst? We haven't found anywhere to live yet so need to make sure the commute works for my OH to North London and me to the school! Or any other suggestions of great communities to live in! This will be our last relo so I'm looking for my forever home and scared about making friends myself!

Hi there,

We are relocating to the UK from Nigeria and are considering Reddam House for our boys for Year 4 and Year 7 im wondering if there is any update on the school. I'm particularly interested in the culture at Reddam..in terms of morals and discipline and how the children relate with each other.
