Ashford School in Kent?

We're thinking of moving out of London to Kent or East Sussex - somewhere that is commutable to Victoria - and wondered if anyone has any thoughts on Ashford School in Kent?

Our budget for a 3 bed house is up to 450K so this is one of the areas I have identified (along with Burgess Hill!).

Thank you!

Ashford itself is a bit dreary you might want to look at the surrounding villages or Tenterden. You should get something reasonable for that amount. My daughter had a taster day at Ashford a while ago and found the teaching a bit dull .

You could easily get a property for that price in Ashford, that’s my hometown! Also the Ashford school is a decent school and has a good location.

We moved from London to Ashford 8 years ago never find it dreary plenty to do. Actually, found more to do here than when we were in London. Tenterden is very lovely, but we are near the rail links here for london day trips to France the beach and good motorway access.
How old are your children ? If they are primary school aged Have a look at Spring Grove School in wye Very vibrant .
Hope the the house hunting goes well

Ashford itself is a very dull town, and ugly. However, the surrounding countryside is gorgeous and if you enjoy village life and the sorts of outside activities that country life offers, there is plenty to do. Best to like driving!

Ashford School is pretty good and does have a good reputation, particularly for sports. As there are two very good grammars in Ashford the pupils are generally the kids from richer families that didn’t pass the 11plus (similar to most public schools in Kent). The results are excellent though when you take this into consideration.

As others have said most people avoid Ashford itself and choose to live in the surrounding villages (Wye, Chatham, Chilham, Tenterden). Canterbury is a good option if you prefer a larger town (it's also on the fast train into London). The school itself has a solid reputation if you're looking for a fairly large all the way through school.

I know it's been a while but if anyone could give inside info/own experience of moving from London to nearby villages (e.g. Wye etc...) that would be greatly appreciated. Seriously considering moving there with young kids and it would be good to hear re primary schools, making friends etc....thank you!!

We moved to just outside of Wye a few years ago. Love the area. We have a great small local primary school. Lots to do activities wise for the children. Husband commutes i now work locally.
Wye is a lovely village.
