Hi,
I am a single mum and I would like to home school my 4 years old boy.
I would like to know about other home shooling groups near me. I live in Peckham Rye (South London). I would like to meet and share skills with other people who have opted for this way of education for their children.

Thanks

Check the East Dulwich Forum ( use the search function ) as I’m pretty sure there is a group on there.

I think home education is fab. your child can grow up at their own pace and school can take childrens exploration and creativity away from them by having to sit in a classroom. putting a child into a school uniform and leaving them at the gates not knowing whether they could be picked on or feel they have to get in with the right crowd is very scary and home educated kids don't have to worry about bullying, peer pressure and following trends. they can still socialise with peers through drama and sports clubs. my best friends were my home friends growing up because we didn't spend all day at school together where we had to worry about peer pressure. also if you pick a school there will always be another school out there that does an activity or covers a topic that they don't in your kids school. homeschooling means you can come up with your own curriculum and do the things you like. I have a nephew who loved fireman sam but after the first day stopped playing with fireman sam because he was told at school it was too babyish. let them grow up at their own pace. you learn more about geography and science from going to an animal farm for example then in a text book etc.
