Teachers attention focused on same students - how to approach this?

DS has been complaining for a while that in one of his subjects the teacher spends all her time with a couple of students in the lesson. I am sure this might be a bit exaggerated but I have also heard this from others in his class. One very keen student asks questions all the time so the teacher is just focused on this person or and when they do group work or partner stuff the teacher is always helping this one group that happen to be the top set. DS is frustrated as he often sits with his hand up waiting for help but the teacher never gets around to him. He is feeling so fed up with it he doesn’t think he wants to take this for GCSE. Is there any point in approaching the school or teacher about this? DS would be horrified if I did but it really seems unfair if the teachers attention is being taken by a small few in the class while the others are left to it.

TIA
